SEOUL — U.S. military personnel in South Korea have been advised to expect peaceful protests outsides the gates of bases here over the next month.

Between 50 and 500 members of the Korean Employment Union — which represents South Korean workers on U.S. military bases here — are expected to participate in the protests against a wage freeze, according to civil gathering registration information filed with the South Korean government.

“Participants are expected to be carrying banners and signs while chanting slogans,” according to a posting on U.S. Forces Korea’s website. “The risk for violence is low and all gatherings are expected to be peaceful.”

The union says the protests will be staged through Aug. 29 outside Yongsan Garrison, Osan Air Base, the U.S. Embassy, and camps Humphreys, Carroll, Henry, Walker, Red Cloud and Casey.
